Narrative Treatment

Just the Two of me

The video starts with a man in bed who appears to be sleeping. As the camera moves a little closer, his eyes shoot open, although his body and head do not move. He gets up slowly looking very pleased with himself. He walks into the bathroom and looks in the mirror while his hands rest on the sink. The man continues to walk down the hallway and into the living room and stops short when he sees another man sitting on the sofa who appears to be watching T.V. He looks back and forth between the man and his countertop. He does not look pleased to see this man, but says nothing and continues on into the kitchen.

The man in the kitchen pours himself a bowl of cereal all the while sneaking glimpses over at the man in the living room. He sees on his counter a pile of mail with a scratch off lotto ticket sitting on the top. He sneaks another glimpse at the man on the couch, but the couch is empty now. He gives a small smile and snatches the lotto ticket up. He continues to scratch it off. The camera does not show what the ticket reveals but we see the man’s face light up and he begins to jump up and down celebrating. There is a shot of the other man in the hallway smiling. He walks up to the man in the kitchen and grabs the ticket out of his hand.

The man who stole the ticket begins to walk into the living room all the while staring down at his winnings. The man in the kitchen looks angry and you see his fists ball up. He stalks after the man who took his ticket and tackles him to the ground. You see the man who stole the tickets face close up on the ground and the other man’s hands around his neck. His eyes bug out and he slowly loses consciousness. There is a close shot of his hand wrapped around the ticket and it slowly loosens its grip. The man on top looks triumphant and smiles while grabbing the ticket.

The next morning happens much the same as the last. The man wakes up in the same fashion and looks in the mirror. When he walks out into the living room, the same man is sitting on his couch. He is furious. He looks from the man to the counter and sees a new lotto ticket sitting there. He looks back and forth between the two many times. The camera zooms into the lotto ticket and the credits roll.
